PRESS RELEASE
Sergeants Graduate from Northwestern University Center for Public Safety
School of Staff & Command
The Shelby Township Police Department has two commanders ready to take leadership roles within the force. It is my honor and privilege to announce:
On October 29th 2020, Sergeants Brian Bunch and Mark Benedettini were among 39 law enforcement professionals from Michigan and Ohio who graduated from the 476th class of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command.
The program, hosted by the Troy Police Department, ran for the past ten months. It provides upper-level academic instruction. Students studied topics ranging from leadership development, strategic planning and decision making, culminating with a staff study paper.
Sgt. Bunch is a graduate of Western Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. He was hired by our department in June 2001. Brian was a field training officer for three years and an evidence technician for 16 years. Upon his promotion in 2018 he was placed in charge of the Evidence Technicians.
Sgt. Mark Benedettini is a graduate of Walsh College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He was hired by our department in January 2007. Upon his promotion in 2019, he was assigned as the sergeant of our Traffic Bureau.
Both Sergeants are invaluable assets to the leadership team, who embody our pillars of:
PRIDE, PROFESSIONLISM, PREPARDNESS AND TEAMWORK
