Detective Bureau

The Shelby Township Police Department Detective Bureau is made up of twelve Police Officers, including one Lieutenant, two Sergeants, eight Detectives and one administrative assistant.  Our Detectives serve in assignments as either day shift investigators, members of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Youth Bureau, or assignment to the DEA Task Force and Macomb Auto Theft Squad (MATS).

All detectives are assigned cases and conduct the follow-up investigations necessary in order to identify the victims, witnesses and suspects involved in reported crimes.  The Detectives have the responsibility of putting together successful investigations that are then forwarded to the prosecutor's office for warrant authorizations.  Some of the many duties performed by our investigators include surveillance, interviews and interrogations, search warrants, evidence collection, forensic data analysis, undercover work and courtroom testimony.
