Accident Reports: Accident reports taken prior to January 1, 2009, until November 29, 2009, may possibly be obtained through the Michigan State Police.  Please see the state police web site for further direction (www.michigan.gov/msp).  Accident reports that were taken after January 1, 2009, may possibly still be obtained through the Records Bureau.  Please contact Records to see if the report is available (586) 731-2121, Option 1 at the prompt.   Accident Reports taken after November 30, 2009, may be obtained at the Records Bureau or online at CLEMIS.

Report Fee:  The fee for an accident report is $6 at the Records Bureau.  You may also purchase your accident report online for $14.  Please follow the CLEMIS link for instructions.  

General Police (Incident) Reports/Dispatch Run (Call for Service) Sheets -  A FOIA Request Form must be submitted when requesting copies of police incident reports and/or dispatch run sheets.  Please review the instructions on the Human Resources web page (https://www.shelbytwp.org/government/foia) for further guidance and the online FOIA Request Form.  


For your convenience, an informational stand is available in the lobby of the police department that contains other information, such as CPL packages.   

 DISCOVERY REQUESTS (For attorney use only): 

For Attorneys Requesting Information from the Shelby Township Police Department for Cases that are Undergoing Court Action To expedite your Discovery requests, we are requesting that you complete the Discovery Request fillable form in Crimewatch.

While the processing of most Discovery requests does not incur a fee, an exception may be made for extensive or time-consuming requests. If a fee will be associated with your request, we will notify you prior to processing your request. After we have compiled your information, the information will be forwarded to the appropriate Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. At that time, we will notify you whether you will need to contact our Township Attorney’s Office or the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office to obtain your information.
