Youth Law Enforcement Academy
We presented our first Youth Law Enforcement Academy in the summer of 2019 to 28 school-aged members of our community aged 10-12. This program was part of Police Chief Robert Shelide’s vision to bring the community together and show children what police officers do in their daily jobs. The two-week program teaches students teamwork, leadership, communication skills, and gives them an introduction to the skills and equipment used by first responders on a daily basis. This program is free for the children, and we hope that the program helps us build an even stronger connection with our community, teach children valuable skills, and maybe lead to some future new officers.
Our 2023 Youth Law Enforcement Academy will be held Monday through Friday from 8am to 2 pm, July 17 - July28. Please see the flyer and application below. Any questions, call Sgt. Mark Benedettini at 586-731-2121 ext. 358 or Lt. Brandon Dowty at 586-731-2121 ext. 317
