Youth Crimes Detective
The Shelby Twp. Police Detective Bureau has assigned one full-time Detective to investigate crimes involving youth. Our Youth Detective has special knowledge and training in dealing with child victims and witnesses, as well as extensive coursework in Human Trafficking identification and prevention and handling sex crimes involving children. Detective Jim, as he is lovingly known around the community, is just as comfortable dealing with major crimes as he is handling less-major infractions in the schools. He can commonly be found in the high schools facilitating discussions with classes about law and criminal procedure, or reading to the littles at local pre-school programs.
