Crime Scene Unit
Our department has a small group of specially trained officers who serve in our Evidence Tech Bureau. Evidence Techs are patrol officers who have been through a number of special schools that enable them to use the latest techniques and technologies to help gather evidence at accidents and crime scenes. Two evidence techs are assigned to each patrol platoon and are responsible tor processing the evidence that comes from the cases that arise on their shift. In the case of a major incident or fatal accident, special teams of techs are called in to help process the scene and evidence quickly and efficiently. Our techs use the newest technology in scene documentation and evidence collection, including the FARO 3D Focus Laser Scanner and the TruNarc handheld narcotics analyzer.
