The Shelby Township Police Department currently has several active investigations going on of several senior citizen fraud schemes. We will release more information on the status of these investigations at a later date.

However, we just want you to make sure you inform your elderly parents, neighbors, and friends that the police, attorneys, judges, etc., will NEVER call you on the phone requesting large sums of money to get someone out of jail, pay for medical bills or to pay for lawyer fees. These scam artists are getting more and more brazen, as we have seen couriers being sent directly to senior citizen's homes, where the senior will turn over large sums of money to the courier, where they in turn hand it over to the scam artist.

Again, we have been making progress on several of these fraud investigations and will release more information at a later date. But, in the meantime, make sure to watch over your elderly loved ones so they don't become the next victim!
