On Thursday evening at approximately 10:25pm our officers responded to an address on Marian Dr near the area of Schoenherr and 24 Mile Rd to check on the welfare of a 77 year old woman. Shelby dispatch had received a call from the woman’s son reporting that his father had just shot his mother after being involved in an argument. Upon arrival, officers were able to confirm that a male subject was in the house. After repeated attempts to contact the subject were met with negative results, the incident was treated as a barricaded gunman. The Shelby Township’s Police Tactical Response Unit, along with members of the Warren SWAT team were activated and dispatched to the scene. After additional attempts to communicate with the subject went unanswered, forced entry was made. The elderly female was found deceased in the home after being shot several times. The 83 year old husband was also found injured with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. That subject was taken to a local hospital for care where he later succumbed to his injuries. The scene has been secured and there is no further threat to our community.
