On 06/24/25 at 02:01 am, a Shelby Township officer conducted a traffic stop on a silver Chrysler in the area of Van Dyke and 21 Mile Rd. The officer met with the driver who was identified as Rolando Hunt Jr out of Detroit. The officer asked the driver for consent to search his vehicle; the driver gave permission. Upon searching the vehicle, the officer noticed the vehicle had several loose panels throughout the vehicle that were not consistent with this type of car. The officer was able to pop off a loose panel just below the radio and located a Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun in a hidden compartment. Officers continued to search and found a fully loaded magazine under a seat in the vehicle. Hunt did not have a CPL, and the gun was not registered to him. Hunt was arrested and lodged at Shelby Township Police Department.
On 06/24/25, Rolando Hunt Jr was arraigned at the 41-A District Court in front of Magistrate Verploeg for:
-Felony – Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
Rolando Hunt Jr. was given a $5,000 personal bond and was released from jail.
