This week we would like to introduce you to Officer Bennett! Officer Bennett grew up in Chesterfield and attended Anchor Bay High School graduating in 2014. She went on to attend Macomb Community College and received an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. She was one of the very first Cadets at the department when the Cadet program was brand new, starting in June 2018. Officer Bennett was selected by the Department to go to Macomb’s Police Academy and graduated in December 2018. She has been an Officer with the Shelby Township Police Department for almost 4 years now. She worked road patrol for 3 years and now she is a part of the Community Services Unit. She is also the TEAM (Teaching, Educating, and Mentoring) Officer and works with the schools. Officer Bennett is also trained in policing on mountain bicycles and the RAD program (Rape Aggression Defense) which is a self-defense class for women. Not to mention, she is Officer Stanley’s partner and works with him being our comfort dog for the community. Outside of work, Officer Bennett loves being at home with her husband and pets! She is recently married and together they have 4 dogs, a cat, chickens and turkeys… She loves animals! She also enjoys gardening, cooking, working out and working on projects around her home.
