Congratulations to the 2021 Youth Law Enforcement Academy Graduates!

The Shelby Township Police Department would like to congratulate the 19 students who recently graduated from the 2021 Shelby Township Youth Law Enforcement Academy!  This academy is a two week program designed to teach students teamwork, leadership, communication skills, and give students an introduction to the skills and equipment utilized by first responders on a daily basis.  The students also solved a "mock" crime over the course of the academy, from crime scene investigation to suspect identification and arrest.  The curriculum consisted of daily physical training, laws of arrest, search and seizure, defensive tactics, report writing, team building, Tactical Response Unit, K-9's, traffic stops, and First Aid / CPR (in conjunction with the Shelby Township Fire Department).  On behalf of the Shelby Township Police Department, we would like to congratulate the 19 students who graduated from our 2nd Youth Academy!

We will be hosting our 3rd Annual Youth Academy on July 18 - July 29, 2022.  The academy is open to Shelby Township students who are in 5th or 6th grade at the time of application.  We will be sending out registration information for next years academy shortly after the new year.  For more information, contact Sgt. Mark Benedettini at (586) 731-2121 ext. 358 or mbenedettini@shelbytwp.org.
