Please be aware of DTE Energy scams! Here are a few tips to know it's a scam.

DTE Energy will never impose unrealistic deadlines for payment or threaten to disconnect power within a period of hours. They will also never ask for Social Security numbers, bank account or credit card information.

Scammers often use caller ID spoofing to make a call appear to originate from DTE. Always ask for identification and have them provide you with your account number or the amount of your latest bill. And if the caller demands immediate payment, it is a scammer.

So please never give out any information including your personal info or your account number and always ask for identification.
