On January 31, 2024, at approximately 08:00 PM, the Shelby Township Police and Fire Departments responded to a vehicle / pedestrian accident on 25 Mile Road near Mound. The initial investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, a 55-year-old female from Macomb Township, was travelling E/B 25 Mile Road, at which point she struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and cooperated with police. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor with the driver of the vehicle.

The pedestrian, a 73-year-old female from Shelby Township, was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.
