On August 12th, 2021, at approximately 2:26 PM,  the Shelby Township Police Department and Fire Department responded to a reported single-car injury crash on Jewell Rd., north of 24 Mile Rd.  Officers arrived to find a 2017 Cadillac on its side on the east side of the roadway.  The driver and lone occupant, a 41-year-old male from Washington Township, was transported from the scene to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Hours later the driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital personnel.  Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be a contributing factor.  Anyone in the area that may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Traffic Services Bureau, Sergeant Wojcik at (586) 731-2121 Ext. 325.
