On May 25, 2022 the Shelby Township Police Department was notified by a Detective from the Texas Rangers of a Terroristic post made on social media of threats to shoot and kill students at unspecified school.  The Detective Ranger’s investigation tracked the suspect to an address in Shelby Township. 

Detectives from the Shelby Township Police Department continued the investigation resulting in an 18 year old male being identified as the suspect.  Detective’s responded to the suspect’s home where he was interviewed and subsequently arrested for making terroristic threats. Following his arrest, the 18 year old was transported to the Shelby Township Police Department pending arraignment.  Weapons found at the residence were removed from the home for safe keeping.

The Shelby Township Police Department takes all terroristic threats seriously.  All similar threats will be thoroughly investigated and all perpetrators will be charged criminally. “We are grateful for the Texas Rangers reporting this behavior to our agency.  We are committed to protecting our community and I want to commend our officers for their swift response.”  -Chief Robert Shelide
