In June 2023, a Shelby Township resident filed a police report stating that in August of 2022, she hired a contractor to dig and install an inground pool at her home. She agreed to pay the contractor a $60,000 deposit for the job, with a completion date of June 2023. Since the contractor was given the initial $60,000 deposit last year, the contractor never started the job. The contractor stated that he was having financial problems and could not complete the job or refund the money to the homeowners. The Shelby Township Police Department Detective Bureau investigated this case and presented it findings to the Macomb County Prosecutors Office.
The contractor, identified as Brandon Lewis Heitmann, is a 30-year-old from Washington Twp., and the owner of Exigent Design.
On July 28, 2023, Brandon Heitmann was arraigned on the following charges:
-False Pretenses -$50,000 or more but less than $100,000
-Contractor – Fraudulent use of building contract fund
***Bond was set at $30,000 cash/surety***
“Our department is currently investigating another case with this same individual, and I urge anyone who feels that they may have been scammed by this contractor to file a report immediately with their local police department, as we feel there may be more victims out there.” – Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Shelide
