On December 2, 2025, at 7:26 a.m., Bensalem Police responded to Bob Nolan’s Auto Service, located at 2464 Bristol Pike, for the report of a burglary overnight. The investigation revealed that at 12:34 a.m. that morning, a dark Chevy Silverado pickup truck pulled into the front parking lot. The Silverado rammed the front glass door multiple times, shattering the glass. The suspect then exited the truck and entered the business by crawling through the bottom of the broken glass door. The suspect immediately went to the cash register and stole it.
During the same period as this burglary, similar burglaries were committed at locations in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, and Chester Counties. In those cases, the exact style of vehicle was used to ram the glass doors at the targeted businesses. Investigators working on these cases identified the suspect as 56-year-old Richard Sturts.
Further investigation revealed two outstanding arrest warrants for Richard Sturts. The Warrington Township Police Department issued one arrest warrant for Fleeing and Eluding, and the Bucks County Probation and Parole Department issued another.
Bensalem Detectives entered the Chevrolet Silverado's license plate into an Automated License Plate Reader system to be alerted when the vehicle traveled through Bensalem. On December 18, 2025, Bensalem Police were alerted that the Chevrolet Silverado was being operated within the Township. Bensalem Patrol Officers located the Chevrolet Silverado unoccupied in the area of the Cornwells Train Station Park and Ride near Station Avenue. Richard Sturts was located on foot in the area and was taken into custody for the two outstanding arrest warrants.
Sturts was transported to police headquarters and interviewed by detectives, where he admitted to driving the Chevy Silverado pick-up truck that was captured on surveillance during the burglary at Bob Nolan’s Auto Service and other burglarized businesses in the region. Sturts was charged in Bensalem with Burglary, Criminal Trespass, and related offenses. District Justice Mark Douple arraigned him; his bail was set at 10% of $150,000, and he was remanded to Bucks County Prison.
Additional charges are forthcoming from other police agencies, and Bensalem Police would like to thank the Tredyffrin Township Police Department for their assistance.
