On Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 7:35 pm, Bensalem Police responded to the area of Bristol Pike and Woodbine Avenue for the report of a large group of juveniles fighting. Upon arrival, Bensalem Police found 3 shooting victims at that location. All 3 victims were transported by Bensalem Township EMS to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for treatment.
Peter Romano, a 14-year-old student at Snyder Middle School and Bensalem resident, was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead upon arrival. The other 2 victims were 17 years old and 19 years old. The 19-year-old male was treated for gunshot wounds to his lower extremities and released last night. The 17-year-old is still in the hospital in stable condition and will receive surgery to repair injuries to both legs. Notifications have been made to the family members of the 3 victims and the police department is keeping them updated on the investigation.
Witnesses stated that the shots were fired from a vehicle that was parked at Woodbine Avenue and Bristol Pike. After the shooting, the vehicle then fled the scene at a high rate of speed northbound on Bristol Pike.
This is an active investigation involving the Bensalem Township Police Department, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, and the Bensalem Township School District. We are utilizing all resources at our disposal to identify and arrest any persons who may be involved in this shooting and homicide.
The Bensalem Township School District is assisting any students or staff who may be affected by this tragedy. Please speak with your children and utilize the available resources if you suspect that they need help coping with this tragedy.
