In order to best protect the public and employees of the Cape May Police Department we will be making temporary changes in police procedures to avoid potential exposure of the COVID-19 virus.
For all non-emergency issues please call our non-emergency number 609-884-9500 rather than coming to the station in person.
People with complaints coming into the Cape May Police Department shall be directed to standby in the lobby and an officer will make contact with them. This shall be done by either keeping the suggested six foot distance or preferably through the dispatch telephone in the lobby to decide what actions need to be taken to address the individual’s concerns.
The Cape May Police Department will make every effort to take incident reports and handle non-emergent calls for service via telephone instead of responding to a caller’s location. If you contact the police department for non-emergency calls an officer will return your phone call as soon as possible.
These procedures will be frequently evaluated over the next couple of weeks and we will release new information as soon as it becomes available.
