On 03/26/2023, a Golden Police Officer contacted a suspicious vehicle at Home Depot with no plates. The vehicle was not stolen but the driver Donald Harris (51), had a warrant out of the Denver Police Department for 2^nd degree assault on a Police Officer, 3^rd degree assault and child abuse. He was also involved in the kidnapping of a 5 year old child by force. Contact with Denver PD advised subject and his girlfriend, Stephanie Montoya (34) had assaulted a Child Protection Service (CPS) worker and forcibly kidnapped the child. Staff at an area hotel confirmed by a photo that the child was checked in with Stephanie Montoya. Officers had eyes on the room and began working on a plan.  Stephanie and the child came out of the room. Stephanie and Donald were taken into custody on their felony warrants and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. The child was taken care of until CPS could come pick them up.
