The Jefferson County Memorial Gardens, located in Golden, on the southwest side of the Jefferson County Government Center, were dedicated in 1995, in honor of JCSO Sgt. Timothy M. Mossbrucker EOW on April 28, 1995, victims of violent crimes, and employees, volunteers, and elected officials of Jefferson County who dedicated their lives to serving the public. The collection of gardens which honor and memorialize the lives of these victims are called the "Courage Garden." In October 2020, the Courage Garden gazebo, dedicated benches and other mementos were destroyed in an arson.
Today, members of Jefferson County, including surviving family members and first responders, were able to join there for the ribbon cutting of the new gazebo. Golden Police Department would like to extend our thanks for the generosity of Golden Civic Foundation, Golden Rotary Club, and all the other community members whose donations made this possible.
The arson is still under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Golden Police Department via the tip line at 303-384-8034 or "Submit A Tip!" on the department's Crimewatch portal.
