UPDATE: I-70 is re-opened.

UPDATE: An accident occurred involving a single motorcyclist and an unoccupied parked car on the shoulder resulting in a fatality. No other cars or people were involved. I-70 remains closed at this time.

On September 11, 2024 at 6:30 in the morning Golden Police Officers responded to the area of I-70 eastbound near mile marker 260 for the report of an unknown injury traffic accident. The crash is still being investigated at this time. All lanes of I-70 eastbound are closed at mile marker 260. I-70 cannot be accessed from the C470 westbound off-ramp. Traffic already on eastbound I-70 is being directed to exit onto C470 westbound towards Highway 6. Alternate routes are advised.
