UPDATE:

Golden Police Department, in coordination with school administration and R1 School Security, have successfully completed a controlled release and evacuation of students. The lockdown has been lifted. The investigation remains active, and additional information will be released to the public as soon as it becomes available.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

Golden Police Department responded to Golden High School this morning following reports of a student potentially in possession of a firearm. No threats or injuries have been reported.

Officers quickly arrived on scene, identified the individual in question, and are currently reviewing security footage as part of their investigation. The school has been placed on precautionary lockdown while authorities complete a thorough search of the building.

Students arriving for classes were temporarily directed to remain outside during the initial phase of the police response. Officials emphasize there is no active emergency situation at this time.
