On June 7, 2024, at approximately 1:00 PM, pretrial inmate, Kegan Vanvliet, 45 years of age, escaped from the Fremont County Detention Center. 

Vanvliet is described as a white male, 6-00 tall, 175lbs, blonde hair, and blue eyes. Vanvliet was last seen wearing jail-blue clothing. 

Vanvliet was being held on charges from the Canon City Police Department including criminal attempt/murder, possession of a dangerous weapon, prohibited use of a weapon, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, and domestic violence. 

Vanvliet was last seen heading south. 

There is a heavy police presence in the areas of Hwy 50, Mackinzie Ave, Grandview Ave, and areas on the eastern edge of Canon City.  Please avoid the area.  

FCSO, CCPD, Fremont OEM, US Marshal's Service, and other available resources have been deployed.   

This is an active search and investigation at this time.
