GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office Records Division is responsible for releasing all records and copies of reports in accordance with the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act (CCJRA) and Colorado Open Records Act (CORA).
Office Hours: Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

RECORDS RELEASE/AVAILABILITY
Most case reports are generally available within 14 working days from the date the incident was reported (this allows sufficient time for submission, review, corrections, and approval).
Some records or information may not be immediately available upon request depending on the type of record requested, to include:
- If the report is still active or incomplete.
- If the case is an active investigation (i.e., Homicide, sex assaults, major case crimes) this will not be released without proper authorization and completion of the investigation and/or judicial proceeding in a Colorado Court.
- If the report/record contains protected information, it will be removed or redacted prior to release.
- Requests for dispatch CAD 911 calls and dispatch incident logs need to be requested through the dispatch center at 719-792-6411.
REQUEST RECORDS
Records requests must be submitted in writing by:
- Printing or downloading a records request form from the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office website or picked up in person at the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, Administrative Division.
- A records request form must contain the signature of the person requesting the record as well as a copy of your State ID or Driver’s License.
- Please be sure to provide as much detail as possible. A request that is too broad, too vague, or large will delay processing.
- Records requests are accepted and processed during regular office hours, pre-payment of fees is required, prior to processing your request
- NOTICE: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Agencies may submit their official request. Please include your agency ORI # on your request form
- Requests can be submitted by e-mail, fax, mail or in person at the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, Records Division.

Email or faxed requests received after 3:00.p.m or sent outside of regular business hours, or any day the office is officially closed will be considered as received the following business day.
A records technician will contact you to confirm your request was received and let you know if additional information and/or fees are required. *Please be advised that an effort will be made to respond within 3 business days of a request. If you do not receive a response or have any questions, please call the Records Division at 719-276-5521 or 719-276-5525.
FEE SCHEDULE: Pre-payment is required before processing your request. Fees must be paid in full before the records are released unless alternative arrangements have been made through the Records Custodian.
Forms of payment accepted:
- Cash or money orders
- Attorney checks from an operating account
- Business checks (I.e., insurance companies) or cashier checks
- Credit Card payment accepted by phone (A transaction fee will apply)
- No personal checks are accepted
Make checks or money orders payable to “Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.”
ABANDONED REQUESTS
- If the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office Records Division makes reasonable attempts to contact the requesting party to clarify the request and/or the requestor does not respond within ten business days, the Records Division will close the request and require a new records request to be filled out and resubmitted.
- Once you have been notified that the records you requested are available, you will have 30 days from the date of notification to pick them up, or a new request for records will need to be resubmitted.
The “Pecuniary Statement” is only required if your company uses its own form (i.e. insurance company, attorney’s office, etc.).
