On July 8, 2025, the Board of County Commissioners granted Sheriff Cooper the authority to implement and suspend fire bans in unincorporated Fremont County through Resolution 2025-9.
Before you begin any outdoor burning or recreational cooking, please verify that there are no fire ban restrictions in place by checking with local fire districts, state agencies, including the Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service.
Exercise caution when burning or cooking outdoors, taking into account the surrounding vegetation and weather conditions.
FIRE RESTRICTIONS HAVE DOWNGRADED TO STAGE ONE
On May 20, 2026, the Stage 2 fire restriction for unincorporated Fremont County has been downgraded to Stage One per Sheriff Cooper.
