On August 17, 2022, Fremont County was subject to a cyber security incident. This incident has resulted in the loss of access to several systems across Fremont County. Local and State IT teams have been working diligently since this to restore services for several offices, however, the Inmate Accounting systems for the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office have been deemed unrecoverable. Due to this, all account data for the office has been lost.

Regrettably, this means that any ledger data for inmates’ accounts is unrecoverable. Local account managers, using various physical records, have managed to find the last known balances for most inmates actively in custody as of August 15, 2022. These will be the balances the Fremont County Detention Center will reflect on an inmate's account when services are restored.

As a result of this, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office understands that funds may have been placed on an inmate's account since 08/15/2022 until services were disabled. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office will honor deposits made to an account after the inmates' last known balance with proof of a receipt for the transaction. This will apply to funds added via JailATM.com, cash transactions using the lobby kiosk at the FCSO, and any check or money orders that were delivered.

Any inmates who were actively in custody at the time of this incident that no proof of a prior balance can be found will be given a $75.00 deposit to their account. This is based on the average balance of inmates currently in FCSO custody.

Inmates with a debt balance prior to this incident will have all debts cleared.
