On May 1, 2026, at approximately 4:37 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department, along with Hillsboro Fire and Rescue, responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 149 in the Town of Deering. 

Preliminary investigation indicates a black Audi was traveling south, driven by Henry Proctor, 35 years old of Francestown, when it left the roadway, rolled over, and struck 75-year-old Matilde Mejia, who was standing at the end of her driveway. Mejia was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The operator of the vehicle was transported to Concord Hospital with unknown injuries. 

As a result of the investigation, Proctor faces multiple charges, including Negligent Homicide and Aggravated DUI.
