On February 3, 2026, at 5:30 pm, Hillsboro Police, Fire, and Rescue responded to the area of 27 Henniker Street for a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. 

The investigation revealed that a pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway and was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound. The driver of that vehicle, identified as Stephen Gallagher, age 55, of Hillsboro, immediately stopped, rendered aid, and fully cooperated with investigators. Sadly, the pedestrian, identified as Elizabeth Otten, aged 82, of Hillsboro, succumbed to her injuries. 

Henniker Street was closed for a brief period while investigators processed the scene. The preliminary investigation suggests that lighting conditions, limited visibility, and the roadway curve contributed to the incident.
