

Beloved School Resource Officer Passes Away
Hillsboro-Deering Says Goodbye to SRO -
It Is with a heavy heart that Chief Roarick of the Hillsboro Police Department announces the passing of Officer Rory Bohanan. On May 10th, 2022, while on duty as the School Resource Officer for the Hillsboro-Deering School District, Officer Bohanan suffered a medical emergency.
Officer Bohanan began his lifetime of service in the Navy in 1981, serving on the USS Emory S. Land. In 1987 he joined the NH Department of Corrections and then moved into law enforcement in 1998 part-time. Officer Bohanan attended the 123rd NH Police Academy finishing 1st academically in his class.
Officer Bohanan worked for both the Henniker and Hopkinton Police Departments before becoming the School Resource Officer at Hillsboro-Deering Schools. It was in this role that Officer Bohanan exhibited his excellence and merit. Guiding students, he not only ensured their safety, but he was also a respected mentor to so many. Officer Bohanan frequently worked with the Special Olympics participating in the Torch Run year after year. Officer Bohanan was set to retire from law enforcement on June 30th.
The men and women of the Hillsboro Police Department extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, children, family, and friends during what is a difficult and painful time. We will all miss “Officer Bo” very dearly.
