In 2023, K9 Gibbs retired after nearly a decade of service alongside Lt. Hodgen. Today, surrounded by a sea of blue, we said our final goodbye and saluted him as he took one last ride in his cruiser. K9 teams and officers from departments across New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont came together to honor Gibbs and pay their respects to one of their own.
Gibbs was a fierce crime fighter, credited with countless finds involving both vulnerable people in need and those who chose the wrong side of the law.
Just days before his retirement, Gibbs made his final apprehension, locating a wanted suspect hiding in the woods with a firearm. He engaged the suspect and pulled him away from the gun, likely saving officers’ lives that night.
Gibbs was tough. Gibbs was loud. Gibbs was an exceptional patrol dog.
