Domestic Violence Assessment Bill Pending in Albany
Preventing domestic violence starts with early intervention and strong partnerships. Here in Dutchess County, we use the Lethality Assessment Protocol, an 11-question screening tool administered by law enforcement on scene, to identify high-risk situations and connect victims with immediate support when it matters most. Since its implementation in 2014, this approach has become a model across New York State.
District Attorney Anthony Parisi said, "My focus is not only on holding offenders accountable, but on preventing violence before it escalates. This tool gives us the ability to intervene earlier and better protect victims."
I’m proud to work alongside Sheriff Kirk Imperati, Family Services and all our community partners as we continue to advance a proactive, victim-centered approach centered on safety and prevention.
