Identity Theft Reporting
The Lochbuie Police Department is committed to assisting victims of identity theft. If you suspect that your personal identifying information has been stolen or used fraudulently, please complete the attached identity theft report to document the incident.
What is Identity Theft?
Identity theft occurs when someone steals your personal identifying information, such as your social security number, name, or credit card information, and uses it for their own gain. This can include using your information to open accounts, make purchases, or obtain employment.
Examples of Identity Theft:
- Someone steals your social security number and uses it for employment.
- An account is opened using your personal identifying information.
- A suspect uses your credit card information to make unauthorized purchases.
Reporting Identity Theft:
To report suspected identity theft, please complete the attached identity theft packet and submit it to the Lochbuie Police Department.
You can also report identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Remember to keep a copy of your report for your records.
