The Police Department has fielded a couple complaints about parking in the Evans Place neighborhood. Parking in your neighborhood can be challenging, for sure. Most streets are regulated to allow parking only on one side.
Construction traffic has exacerbated the already crowded conditions on local streets and the Town has been working with builders and contractors to mitigate the congestion in Evans Place. Good news: the subdivision is nearing build out and we are seeing the last of the construction traffic!
Now, though, the complaints are focused on improper parking at night and on weekends--when there isn't construction. That means, of course, that the offending cars are being parked by neighbors. The Police Department wants to achieve voluntary compliance and avoid enforcement measures, so we are asking for all neighbors to cooperate and park in their own driveways or only in authorized areas.
Town Code and state law both prohibit parking where signs are posted. During a quick drive through your neighborhood the morning of March 11th, I stopped counting at a dozen improperly parked cars. Parking congestion on residential streets could delay emergency vehicle access to a neighbor in distress.
Please respect and obey the parking restrictions and help us ensure safe ingress and egress from your neighborhood. While we are asking for voluntary compliance, we have an obligation to offenders' neighbors to enforce the law and take punitive action against repeat offending cars--and I think we can agree that everyone wants to avoid that. Save yourself the cost of a ticket and potential impound fees by parking only where allowed.
Besides parking where prohibited by the signs, Town Code prohibits parking:
Thank you for being a considerate neighbor and doing your part to keep Keenesburg safe for everyone!
