Officer Jeremiah Schoepflin--Police OfficerI am a native-born Colorado kid that grew up being feral and told not to be home until the streetlights came on. I grew up outside with a Swiss Army knife in my pocket and doodads in my pocket like Dennis the Menace. I grew up on stories of my grandpa Martin catching bad guys on horseback as he was the first sheriff of Adams County. After high school I followed my love for football to Sterling College where I played football on a scholarship for academics and football. I spent a great deal of my time outside and found myself fishing and getting lost in the Kansas country with my Husky Nakona. I chose a major in premed but also worked through school doing construction and other odd jobs. At the end of my career as a college student I wrote my senior thesis on primitive living and its effects on the human body. I used my love for the outdoors to see what the old-world diet would do to the human body (I was the guinea pig). In that time as well, I had chosen not to go to medical school and decided to come home to Colorado where I helped family and got into law enforcement. I began my career in Arvada then moved to Northglenn. In Northglenn I worked the night shift or what was commonly known at the time as “The Goon Squad”. I loved the nights and the work but found the department and my team going in directions I did not want to follow. I came out into Weld County wanting to help build an agency as I wanted to push myself further in my career, but also keep growing areas from becoming the cities I am so used to working in. I joined the Weld County Swat Team in my first year in Weld County after completing their testing and selection process. Prior to being two years on the team I specialized on the team as a sniper and still hold a place among four team members. I have completed SWAT sniper school as well as advanced sniper training. In my free time I can often be found in the mountains with my dogs or at home in my large garden chasing my chickens and tending to my bees. I read in my spare time and have a huge collection of Louis Lamour books. I am currently teaching my niece to be a little feral girl who knows dandelions are okay to eat and boys catch knuckles till she’s at least 30 years old. I love my role in this community, and I am dead set on being here for the long haul and seeing it grow and change. |
