Keenesburg PD has received multiple reports of a bear wandering around the area.

The bear was allegedly first spotted yesterday near WCR 16 & WCR 71, with the most recent sighting occurring today near WCR 16 & WCR 65.

Based on the direction of travel, it appears the bear may have missed a turn somewhere around Wyoming and is now improvising.

At this time, the bear has not caused any problems and appears to just be passing through the area. We would like to keep it that way.

Residents are reminded to secure trash, pet food, and anything else that might convince the bear your property is an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Also, this should go without saying, but please do not attempt to pet the bear, feed the bear, chase the bear, fight the bear, or take selfies with the bear.

The bear will absolutely win that interaction.

If you see the bear, give it space and let it continue on its way back to the mountains where it belongs.
