Update to Search and Rescue Operation – Yampa River
MAYBELL, Colo. — At approximately 4:00 p.m. today, the adult male and adult female involved in the Yampa River search and rescue operation were successfully located approximately one mile from East Cross Mountain.
The two individuals were cold and wet but were otherwise uninjured.
The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Moffat County Search and Rescue and the numerous volunteers who assisted in locating the two individuals. Their quick response, dedication, and teamwork were instrumental in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion.

MAYBELL, Colo. — The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office and Moffat County Search and Rescue have launched a search and rescue operation involving an adult male and an adult female who reportedly put in on the Yampa River from Moffat County Road 19, north of Maybell, on Saturday.
The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office was alerted around 10:45 a.m. today after the parties failed to make contact with family members and did not arrive at their expected take-out location.
Search and rescue operations were initiated and are ongoing at this time. Personnel from the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, Moffat County Search and Rescue, and assisting agencies are actively working the incident.
