K9 Program
The Moffat County Sheriff's Office K9 program was started by Retired Sgt. Courtland Folks in 2004. Sgt. Folk and his first K9 Czar, were part of defining case law in Colorado when the Colorado Supreme Court held that a K9 sniff of a lawfully seized vehicle was not a violation of the Colorado Constitution.

Meet K9 Prime
K9 Prime is the newest addition to the MCSO K9 Unit. He is a purebred yellow Labrador Retriever and serves as a single-purpose K9. Prime is specially trained in drug odor detection and tracking, making him a valuable asset in proactive policing and investigations.
Handler Partnership
Prime is handled by Sgt. Pogline, and together they have developed a strong and effective working relationship. Through dedicated training and teamwork, the pair has built a solid bond that enhances their performance in the field.
A Valuable Team Member
K9 Prime is known for his energetic and outgoing personality, bringing a positive presence to the office and the community. He thrives on training, enjoys retrieving, and excels in “bird dogging,” a skill that has contributed to successful drug seizures and criminal apprehensions.
Sgt. Pogline and K9 Prime work as a highly proactive team, committed to deterring criminal behavior and keeping Moffat County safe.
