The Sheriff's Office Records Division is the custodian of all law enforcement reports. This division processes, maintains, and preserves all documentation produced by deputies of the office. The division provides customer service and support to citizens, office members, and other law enforcement agencies. 

The Civil Service Division provides a wide variety of services for Moffat County. These include, but are not limited to: service of civil process (serving court papers), execution of court-ordered evictions, and the court-ordered sale of real and personal property.

Submitting Documents for Civil Service of Process

Papers can be submitted for service of the process either via postal mail, by E-mail (see below) or in person at the Public Safety Center. Please complete a Civil Information Sheet and send a copy of the process to be served and the information sheet and Return of Service with your papers. All service of the process requires payment in advance. For payments made in the office, we can accept cash, check or money orders, or credit/debit cards. Papers submitted by mail should include a check or money order for the service fee made out to Moffat County Sheriff, and sent to:

We only serve process within the boundaries of Moffat County and we use the address provided to affect service. Received documents are processed and sent out for service as quickly as workload and staff resources allow with service generally made within two weeks of receipt. All documents received are treated with due diligence. There are NO provisions for ‘expedited service’ except in the case of protection orders.
