MOFFAT COUNTY - The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for snowmelt from 6 pm May 1st through the afternoon of May 6th. Warm temperatures have accelerated the snow melt across the high country of northwest Colorado. This is increasing flows on many tributaries of the Yampa River. This water will move through the main stem of the Yampa mid to late this week. Increased reservoir releases may also add additional flows to rivers. The weather service cautions those living in areas prone to flooding to be prepared to take action if flooding happens.
