Weekend Arrests Made for Domestic Violence, Drugs, Theft

GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - On July 17, 2026, at approximately 10:40 a.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a harassment in progress on the 500 block of Garfield Drive in Grand Junction, Colorado. Deputies observed a black work van drive away from the residence as they approached.

Deputies were informed the harassment began the evening prior and continued throughout the morning of July 17, 2026. Through investigation, deputies found that the suspect, identified as Brandon Laird, 32, of Grand Junction, had repeatedly attempted to contact and threaten the victim.

Laird was contacted on the 500 block of Garfield Drive in Grand Junction, Colorado, and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Harassment - repeat telephone calls, Misdemeanor 2

  • Menacing - misdemeanor, Misdemeanor 1

  • Domestic violence

On July 17, 2026, deputies contacted a suspect wanted in connection with an auto theft and false pawn attempt case. Deputies responded to a call of auto theft on June 2, 2026, on the 600 block of Ladore Street in Clifton, Colorado, where multiple high value tools were reported missing from a vehicle. Through investigation, deputies located the items at a local pawn shop and identified the suspect as Eric Girten, 42, of Clifton, Colorado. A warrant was issued for Girten, who was located and arrested on July 17, 2026, without incident. He was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Pawnbroker Act Violation - False information by seller $300-$1000, Misdemeanor 2

  • Pawnbroker Act Violation - False information by seller $300-$1000, Misdemeanor 2

  • Theft - $300-$1000, Misdemeanor 2

  • Theft - $300-$1000, Misdemeanor 2

  • 1st degree criminal auto trespass with intent to commit crime, misdemeanor 1

  • 1st degree criminal auto trespass with intent to commit crime, misdemeanor 1

On July 17, 2026, deputies responded to a report of an assault on the 500 block of 20 ½ Road in Grand Junction, Colorado. During their investigation, deputies observed injuries on a victim consistent with an assault and learned a child was present at the time of the incident. The suspect, identified as Saylor Haralson, 24, of Fruita, Colorado, left the scene prior to deputies’ arrival. Deputies located Haralson at a residence in Fruita, where he was detained without incident.

Haralson was transported to  to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Assault in the third degree, Misdemeanor 1

  • Domestic violence

  • Child abuse - knowngly, reckless - no injury, Misdemeanor 2

On July 19, 2026, deputies responded to a report of an assault on the 500 block of 29 Road in Grand Junction, Colorado. Deputies located the victim a short distance away and observed fresh injuries on the victim. The suspect, identified as Kacie Gulliford, 37, of Grand Junction, Colorado, was contacted at the original residence and taken into custody without incident. She was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Assault in the third degree, Misdemeanor 1

  • Domestic violence

On July 19, 2026, deputies conducted a traffic stop on the 3100 block of Mesa Avenue in Grand Junction, Colorado. The vehicle failed to observe a stop sign, prompting the traffic stop. The two occupants in the vehicle exited the car without directive and began walking away. Deputies placed both males in custody and conducted a search of the car. The search resulted in deputies locating illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia, and stolen financial information.

The suspects were identified as Felix Maldonado, 31, of Grand Junction, and Cody Quintana, 33, of Clifton, Colorado. Both men were transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

Felix Maldonado

  • Possession of schedule I/II controlled substance, Drug Misdemeanor 1

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia, Drug Petty Offense

  • Driving after revocation prohibited - habitual traffic offender, Misdemeanor 1

  • No insurance in possession, Misdemeanor 1

  • Marijuana - open container/use or consume in motor vehicle, Traffic Infraction A

  • Failure to stop at sign, Traffic Infraction A

Cody Quintana

  • Criminal possession or sale of a blank financial transaction device, Felony 6

  • Obstructing a peace officer, firefighter or emergency medical personnel, Misdemeanor 2

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia, Drug Petty Offense
