Introduction

CRIMEWATCH Technologies, Inc. collects and shares information with law enforcement partners as a matter of public safety, and collects the information described below when you visit our Website, use our App, or access any of our services. As explained below, we use that information to improve performance, provide more relevant content, and evaluate the effectiveness of our tools (the “Policy”).

The following terms and other capitalized terms used in this Policy shall have the meanings ascribed to them.

“App” refers to our mobile application, which is made available for iOS and Android users. We encourage you to check regularly for App updates, as we strive to make the App as useful and error-free as possible.

“CWT” (also referred to as “we”, “us” or “our” in this Policy) refers to CRIMEWATCH Technologies, Inc., a Delaware corporation with its principal place of business at 410 Kings Mill Road, York, PA 17401.

“CRIMEWATCH®” refers to the CRIMEWATCH® platform and other services we offer via the Internet and mobile apps. For more information about our services, please visit our Website at www.crimewatch.net.

“Cookies” refers to small files placed on your computer, mobile device, or any other device by a website, containing details of your browsing history on that website, among its many uses.

“Website” refers to the websites CWT operates, including those located at https://www.crimewatch.net, www.crimewatchtech.com, and to the access to our services via our App.

“You” or “your” means the individual accessing or using our App, our services, or the Website, or a company, or any legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using our App, our services, or our Website, as applicable.

“CCPA” refers to the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (the “CPRA”).

“Consumer,” for the purpose of the CCPA/CPRA, means a natural person who is a California resident. A resident, as defined in the law, includes (1) every individual who is in the USA for other than a temporary or transitory purpose, and (2) every individual who is domiciled in the USA who is outside the USA for a temporary or transitory purpose.

“Service Provider” means any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of CWT. It also refers to third-party companies or individuals employed by CWT to facilitate the CRIMEWATCH® services, to provide CRIMEWATCH® on behalf of CWT, to perform services related to CRIMEWATCH®, or to assist CWT in analyzing how our Website, App, and CRIMEWATCH® are used.

“Personal Data” is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual. For the purposes of the CCPA/CPRA, Personal Data means any information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with you.

While using our Website, App, or the CRIMEWATCH® services, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to, your email address, First name and last name, Phone number, Address, State, Province, ZIP/Postal Code, and City.

Usage Data

Usage Data is collected automatically when using our Website, App, and CRIMEWATCH® services.

Usage Data may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address, mobile phone data, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Website, App, and CRIMEWATCH® services that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data.

When you access the Website, App or CRIMEWATCH® services by or through a mobile device, we may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser you use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

We may also collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Website and CRIMEWATCH® services through a mobile device.

User Communications

When you access our Website, App, and CRIMEWATCH® services, we may retain specific data to process your inquiries, respond to your requests, and improve our services.

Other websites may be used to access or use our Website, App, and CRIMEWATCH® or other services. Personal information that you provide to those sites may be sent to CWT to deliver the services. We process such data in accordance with this Policy.

This Policy applies to our Website, App, and CRIMEWATCH® services only. We do not exercise control over any third-party sites used through our services. These other sites may place their cookies or other files on your computer, collect data, or solicit personal information from you.

Information Displayed

This Policy does not extend or apply to any personal information that is legally used, reproduced, or displayed as a part of the CRIMEWATCH® services, including arrest information, criminal charges, Megan’s Law information, criminal history, or other personal information that is part of the public record.

We use Cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Website, App, CRIMEWATCH® services, and store certain information. Tracking technologies used may include beacons, tags, and scripts to collect and track information and to improve and analyze our Website. The technologies we use may include:

Information Security

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure, or destruction of data. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures, including appropriate encryption and physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store Personal Data. We restrict access to personal information to CWT’s employees, contractors, and agents who need to know that information to process it on our behalf. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

Accessing and Updating Personal Information

When you use the Website, App, and CRIMEWATCH® services, we make good-faith efforts to provide you with access to your personal information and either to correct this data if it is inaccurate or to delete such data at your request if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for legitimate business purposes. We ask individual users to identify themselves and the information requested to be accessed, corrected or removed before processing such requests, and we may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backups), or for which access is not otherwise required. In any case where we provide information access and correction, we perform this service free from charge, except if doing so would require a disproportionate effort. Due to our service maintenance process, after you delete your information, residual copies may remain in our active servers for a period before being deleted and may also be retained in our backup systems.

Enforcement

CWT regularly reviews its compliance with this Policy. When we receive formal written complaints, it is our policy to contact the complaining user regarding his or her concerns. We will cooperate with the appropriate regulatory authorities, including local data protection authorities, to resolve any complaints regarding the transfer of Personal Data that cannot be resolved between CWT and an individual.

Detailed Information on the Processing of your Personal Data from our Website

The Service Providers we use may have access to your Data. These third-party vendors collect, store, use, process, and transfer information about your activity on our Website in accordance with their privacy policies.

CWT reserves the right to use remarketing services to advertise to you after you accessed or visited our Website, App, and CRIMEWATCH® services. We and our third-party vendors use cookies and non-cookie technologies to recognize your device and understand how to improve our Website, App, and CRIMEWATCH® services to reflect your interests better. This also enables us to provide information and serve you with advertisements that are likely to be of more interest to you.

When we disclose personal information for a business purpose or a commercial purpose, we enter a contract that describes the purpose and requires the recipient to both keep that personal information confidential and not use it for any purpose except performing the contract.

Sale of Personal Information

As defined in the CCPA/CPRA, “sell” and “sale” mean selling, renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, transferring, or otherwise communicating orally, in writing, or by electronic or other means, a consumer's personal information by the Business to a third party for valuable consideration. This means we may have received some kind of benefit in return for sharing personal information, but not necessarily a monetary benefit.

We do not sell personal information as the term sell is commonly understood. We do allow Service Providers to use your personal information for the business purposes described in our Policy, for activities such as advertising, marketing, and analytics, and these may be deemed a sale under CCPA/CPRA.

Sale of Personal Information of Minors Under 16 Years of Age

We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors under the age of 16 through our Website, although certain third-party websites we link to may do so. These third-party websites have their own terms of use and privacy policies. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's Internet usage and instruct their children to never provide information on other websites without their permission.

We do not sell the personal information of Consumers we know are less than 16 years of age, unless we receive affirmative authorization (the “right to opt-in”) from either the consumer who is between 13 and 16 years of age, or the parent or guardian of a consumer less than 13 years of age. Consumers who opt-in to the sale of personal information may opt out of future sales at any time. To exercise the right to opt-out, you (or your authorized representative) may submit a request to Us by contacting Us.

If you have reason to believe a child under the age of 13 (or 16) has provided Us with personal information, please contact Us with sufficient detail to enable Us to delete that information.
