UPDATED: Male Arrested Following Assault On Deputy

UPDATE TO CASE 1:45 P.M. AUGUST 8, 2026

GRAND JUNCTION, COLO - On August 7, 2026, deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office attempted to contact Jacob Walker, 34, of Grand Junction, for trespassing on private property on the 400 block of 29 Road in Grand Junction, Colorado. Deputies previously arrested Walker on August 6, 2026, for trespassing on the same property. During that incident, Walker attempted to flee from deputies and struck a deputy while being detained.

During the August 7, 2026, incident, Walker again attempted to flee from deputies on foot by running into active traffic on 29 Road near D ½ Road in Grand Junction. Deputies followed at a distance and safely took Walker into custody without further incident a short distance down 29 Road. 

Walker was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Third degree criminal trespass, Petty Offense
  • Obstructing a peace officer, firefighter, or emergency medical personnel, Misdemeanor 2

ORIGINAL RELEASE 10:45 A.M. AUGUST 8, 2026

GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - On August 6, 2026, deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office attempted to contact a male reported be littering and trespassing on a private property on the 400 block of 29 Road in Grand Junction, Colorado. While attempting to contact the male, he ran into traffic and began threatening deputies.

Deputies followed the male over the 29 Road bridge and while trying to contact him a second time, the male attempted to strike the deputies, making contact with a deputy once. Deputies were able to restrain the male and place him into custody, where he was identified as Jacob Walker, 34, of Grand Junction, Colorado. During a safety search of Walker, deputies also located drug paraphernalia on his person.

Walker was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Obstructing a peace officer, firefighter, or emergency medical personnel, Misdemeanor 2
  • Menacing - Misdemeanor, Misdemeanor 1
  • Harassment - strike, shove, kick or otherwise touches or subjects to physical contact, Misdemeanor 1
  • Resisting arrest, Misdemeanor 2
  • Littering - first offense, Class C Misdemeanor
  • Third degree criminal trespass, Petty Offense
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia, Drug Petty Offense

No deputies were injured during the incident. No further information is available at this time.
