GRAND JUNCTION, CO - On Friday, January 19, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and the Grand Junction Fire Department were dispatched to the Redlands, where missing 75-year-old John Miketin was discovered deceased. He was found near the 2000 block of E ½ Road on private property. The death is not considered suspicious at this time.

Mr. Miketin was last seen and reported missing on Thursday, January 11, 2024, when he walked away from his home on North Surrey Court in the Redlands.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the overwhelming support from the Mesa County community and the hundreds of residents who immediately came out to aid in the search. The Miketin family is thankful for the amazing amount of support offered and those who have continued to search over the last week.
