GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - On March 11, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office observed a male with an active arrest warrant outside of a home on the 300 block of Clarinet Lane in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Deputies successfully detained the male, identified as Abel Nunez, 50, of Grand Junction, Colorado. During a search of Nunez, deputies located a bag of crystalline substance on his person. A subsequent search of a car belonging to Nunez resulted in deputies located over 82 grams of fentanyl powder and over 12 grams of methamphetamine, along with items consistent with drug distribution and drug use.

Nunez was booked into the Mesa County Facility on the following charges:

• Controlled Substance - Distribute Fentanyl < 4G, Drug Felony 3

• Controlled Substance - Distribute Fentanyl > 50G, Drug Felony 1

• Controlled Substance - Distribution - Methamphetamine/Heroin/Cathinones - 7-112G, Drug Felony 2

• Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, Drug Felony 4

• Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, Drug Felony 4

• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Drug Petty Offense
