FRUITA, COLO. - On March 12, 2026, deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Fruita Police Department were dispatched to a trespass in progress at a business site in Fruita, Colorado. While responding, a male was located along Highway 50 matching the suspect’s description.

Investigators with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office determined the male had entered the business property through illegal means and had removed over 60 feet of copper wire from the property, damaging machinery in the process. 

The suspect was identified as Kevin Meadows, 47, of Grand Junction, Colorado. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

• Criminal Mischief $20,000 or More, Less than $100,000, Felony 4

• Theft - $2,000-$5,000 - From Building, Felony 6

• Second Degree Criminal Trespass Enclosed/Fenced Property, Petty Offense
