MESA COUNTY, COLO. - On June 21, 2026, at approximately 9:45 a.m., a patrol deputy attempted to stop a driver in Orchard Mesa. The driver failed to stop for the deputy, making his way to Highway 50, while driving erratically at a high rate of speed and disregarding traffic signs.
Ultimately, the deputy conducted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver. The TVI maneuver disabled the vehicle after a pursuit on Highway 50 going westbound and then eventually eastbound. The TVI maneuver caused the vehicle to come to a stop on the north side of Highway 50, between 31 and 32 Roads. The driver disregarded commands to exit the vehicle and then ran from the deputy.
The deputy pursued the suspect on foot and stopped him, secured compliance, and arrested him without further incident. A search of the suspect’s vehicle resulted in multiple containers of suspected methamphetamine, a compound bow, a realistic-looking BB gun, burglary tools, and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect, Michael Lenahan, 59, had active warrants for failure to appear in court on previous drug-related charges and resisting arrest, with a cash-only bond of $20,000.
