MESA COUNTY, COLO. - The following summaries are a variety of arrests made recently by Mesa County sheriff’s deputies.
On February 28, 2026, Justin Carmichael, 35, of Loma, was arrested in the 1200 block of 14 Road, Loma, just before 10 p.m. Deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress with the adult male suspect being detained by one of the homeowners while deputies were enroute.
Carmichael was suspected of being under the influence of an illegal substance at the time. He was screened by emergency medical personnel and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility. He was booked into jail on a probation violation and one count of First Degree Trespass, a class 6 Felony.
On March 1, 2026, deputies were dispatched to a possible trespass in progress in the Gateway area on Highway 141, just after midnight. The suspect was known to the residents and refused to leave the property. Once on scene, deputies contacted 44-year-old Russell Casto, of Whitewater, in the driveway of the property. Deputies observed several skid tire marks in the roadway and on the victim’s property. The suspect was described as doing several doughnuts on the property prior to deputies arriving on the scene.
In addition, deputies located suspected alcohol in the vehicle associated with Casto. He was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Criminal Attempt, Felony 6
- First Degree (Attempted) Trespass of an Inhabited Dwelling, Felony 6
- Drove Under the Influence, Misdemeanor
- Reckless Driving, Misdemeanor
- Open Container in Motor Vehicle, Traffic Offense
- Drove Vehicle Without a Valid Driver’s License, Traffic Offense
On March 01, 2026, deputies on patrol observed a vehicle driven by an adult female with registration stickers incorrectly placed on the rear license plate. At about 10:25 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of 30 ¼ Road and Colorado Avenue, in Grand Junction. The driver initially provided a Colorado ID card that was ultimately determined not to match the identity of the driver, 39-year-old Autumn Randall, of Grand Junction.
It was determined Randall had outstanding warrants and had a revoked driver’s license due to being a habitual traffic offender driving with a revoked license. In addition, she was suspected of operating a vehicle with a tampered VIN plate, being in possession of another state ID card, and a search of the vehicle found drug violations. She was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Criminal Impersonation, Felony 6
- Criminal Possession of ID Document, Misdemeanor 2
- False Reporting of Identifying Information to Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Petty Offense
- Motor Vehicle Tab or Sticker Not Displayed Properly On Rear License Plate, Traffic Offense
- Aggravated Driving with Revoked License, Habitual Offense, Misdemeanor 1
- 3 Warrants
On March 3, 2026, just before 9 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of 2900 Mesa Avenue in Grand Junction. The driver was identified as Charlayna Bustos-Campos, 28, and the passenger as Michael Chambers, 27, both of Grand Junction. Through the course of the contact with both suspects, nearly 170 grams of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and items consistent with the sale of illegal narcotics were located. That amount of methamphetamine has an estimated street value of approximately $3,500.
Both suspects were booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

- Obstructing a Peace Officer, Misdemeanor
- Driving Under Restraint - Alcohol, Traffic Offense
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Petty Offense
- No Insurance in Possession, Traffic Offense
- Motor Vehicle Tab or Sticker Not Displayed Properly On Rear License Plate, Traffic Offense
Michael Chambers
- Possession with Intent to Distribute/Manufacture, Felony 1
- Obstructing a Peace Officer, Misdemeanor
- Resisting Arrest, Misdemeanor
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Petty Offense
On March 3, 2026, deputies on patrol were dispatched to a report of felony menacing in the 500 block of Garland Avenue, in Clifton, at approximately 9:45 p.m. An argument is suspected to have started between neighbors, leading to 42-year-old George Cyr, of Clifton, being arrested on two counts of felony menacing - real/simulated weapon, a class 5 felony.
Cyr was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility without incident.
