GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - On June 1, 2026, at approximately 4:20 p.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a truck stolen from a home on the 2900 block of D ½ Road in Grand Junction, Colorado. The owner reported the vehicle may have been missing since about 11 a.m. or earlier.
Working with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Real Time Crime Center, deputies were able to understand the potential location of the vehicle, placing it near Loma, Colorado. Deputies moved into the area and located it traveling near M and 12 Roads. A high risk stop was performed and two teenage males were taken into custody.
During the course of the investigation, deputies learned the vehicle had traveled extensively between Clifton and Loma. The Fruita Police Department responded to a call of an erratic driver around noon and found the vehicle, which had not been yet reported as stolen, abandoned in a parking lot near Highway 340 and Jurassic Court. The teenagers later returned to the vehicle and continued their escapade.
The vehicle was returned to its owner by 6 p.m. at the conclusion of the investigation.
In accordance with Colorado state law, no information will be released regarding the age or identity of the minors involved in this incident.
