MESA COUNTY, Colo. - On September 10, 2026, at approximately 9:20 p.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 400 block of 32 Rd. in Clifton for a report of an assault in progress. While deputies were on scene speaking with the victim and witnesses, another deputy located the suspect nearby and conducted a traffic stop. 

The victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. The suspect, Alvin Leva Martinez, 31, of Clifton, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on a single count of assault in the 3rd degree and domestic violence. He was released from jail on September 11 on a $1,500 personal recognizance (PR) bond.

On September 11, around 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to the town of Mesa and arrested Jason Fitzsimmons, 49, after a report that a protection order had been violated two days prior.

Fitzsimmons was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

• Violation of a protection order, Misdemeanor 1 (2 counts)
• Harassment - telephone - threat/obscene, Misdemeanor 2

Fitzsimmons posted a $1,000 cash bond and was released from jail on September 12. Previously, he was convicted of a protection order violation from a 2007 criminal case.

On September 12, deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Huffer Ln., in Grand Junction for a report of an assault that had just occurred. When deputies arrived, they met an adult victim who had injuries on his body. A short time later, the suspect, who had left the scene prior to deputies' arrival, was contacted across town in the 700 block of Horizon Dr. with blood on his clothing.  

At approximately 2 p.m., Jason Gullion, 47, of Grand Junction, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

• Crimes against an at-risk person - robbery, Felony 3
• 2nd degree motor vehicle theft, Felony 4
• Crimes against an at-risk person - 3rd degree assault, Felony 6
• Failure to appear warrant, Misdemeanor

Gullion remains in jail on a $250 cash-only bond.

Also on September 12, at 7 p.m., deputies responded to the 400 block of Topaz Dr., in Clifton on a report of an assault. Upon arrival, deputies were advised the female suspect had left the scene in a vehicle. The vehicle and suspect were located a short time later in the area of 32 Rd. and Hill Ave., in Clifton. 

Christina Miller, 21, of Clifton, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

• Assault in the 3rd degree, Misdemeanor 1
• Violation of a protection order, Misdemeanor 2

Miller was previously arrested earlier in the month on assault charges involving a stun gun. Details about that arrest can be found on the Sheriff’s Office Crimewatch webpage.

On September 13, at approximately 2:45 a.m., dispatch advised deputies of a REDDI report. REDDI Report stands for Report Every Dangerous/Drunk Driver Immediately and occurs when a community member notifies law enforcement of a suspected impaired or reckless driver. In this situation, the citizen advised a vehicle was traveling the wrong direction on Highway 50 near the county line of Mesa and Delta counties. Highway 50 is a two-lane divided state highway with a portion running directly between Grand Junction and Delta.

Deputies were able to locate the suspected impaired driver in the greater Whitewater area of Highway 50. They were able to stop the vehicle and perform roadside testing for driver impairment. In addition to the driver, there were two other passengers in the vehicle, including an infant. Ultimately, 34-year-old Nicholas Ellis, of Minnesota, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

• DUI - drove vehicle under the influence, Misdemeanor
• Child abuse - negligence, no injury, Misdemeanor 2
• Driving under restraint, Traffic Infraction
• Drove wrong way on one-way street, Traffic Infraction

Just after 3 p.m. on September 13, deputies responded to the 3200 block of D ½ Rd., in Clifton, after neighbors reported a verbal disturbance. During the course of the investigation, deputies determined no physical altercation took place. However, both disgruntled adults had active warrants for their arrest.

Heather Burdock, 40, of Clifton, and Kevin Rohracker, 43, of Grand Junction, initially refused to come out of the residence. Deputies obtained a search warrant and made entry into the home, arresting both.

Burdock was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

• Obstructing a peace officer, Misdemeanor 2

Rohracker was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

• Obstructing a peace officer, Misdemeanor 2
• Resisting arrest, Misdemeanor 2
• Warrant/Theft $300 - $1000, Misdemeanor 2

Burdock received a $1,000 PR bond and was released on September 14. Rohracker remains in jail on a $1,500 cash-only bond.
